Waiting for Spring

I live in Michigan and this second week of January we lived through the "Polar Vortex" which was subzero temperatures and windchill and a couple feet of snow. I hang in there by thinking it will be Spring one day. Hopefully soon. I've been craving more color in my wardrobe because my black NYC clothes don't cut it in snowy Michigan anymore. Here is a look from Madrid based Delpozo from their Spring 2014 collection. The collection was inspired by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot's painting titled La Zingara translated as The Gypsy.

San Francisco: The Mission

I grew up in San Francisco's Mission district. The Mission was mainly a Latino working class neighborhood. Originally, the Ohlone Native Americans were the first inhabitants of this area until the Spaniards came along and used them as slaves to build the mission. During the Gold Rush Italian, German and Irish immigrants settled in the area. During the 1940's Mexicans followed by Central Americans in the 1960's populated the area. Currently there is a mix of Latino, Italian and hipster elements in the Mission which makes it an interesting place to visit. Like all interesting areas there is now a lot of gentrification going on and hipsters are moving in. I see this as another evolution in the Mission district's history and it will be interesting to follow these new changes.
